Merchants Association |

The Pike Place Merchant's Association grew out of the original Farm
Association established in the 1920s. The Merchants Association
advocates for, and serves, its members by providing acess to the finest
professional legal, accounting, bookkeeping, business insurance, and
health insurance services. Since 1974, the Association has published
the Pike Place Market News monthly to promote the Pike Place Market

Market Foundation |
|
|
|
The
Market Foundation raises money to support the Market's services for
low-income people, including its Clinic, Senior Center, Food Bank and
Child Care & Preschool. The Foundation also supports the Market's
heritage programs, public improvements and repairs to the Market's
historic buildings, development of new low-income housing in the
Market, and programs that assist the Market's farmers.

Historical Commission
|
|
This
12-member board is appointed by the mayor of Seattle to regulate use
and design changes within the nine-acre historic district, in
accordance with guidelines and Ordinance 100475, to preserve and
maintain the Market's historical character. For more information please

PDA Council
|
|
The
Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority (PDA) is a
nonprofit, public corporation chartered by the City of Seattle in 1973
to manage 80 percent of the properties in the nine-acre Market
Historical District. The PDA is required to preserve, rehabilitate and
protect the Market’s buildings; increase opportunities for farm and
food retailing in the Market; incubate and support small and marginal
businesses; and provide services for low-income people.

Pike Market Performers Guild
|
|
This
organization of musicians and street artists performing within the
Market historical district is dedicated to stewardship and promotion of
the performing arts. Their first annual Buskers' Festival held in the
fall of 2002 showed the strength of their voices. One of their goals in
2003 will be the promotion of music events and the 2nd annual Buskers
Festival at the Market.

Constituency
|
|
The
Pike Place Market Constituency exercises the public's oversight of the
Market. The Constituency works to keep Market management responsible
and accountable, and acts as an advisory and lobbying group to both the
PDA and the Seattle City Council. The Constituency elects one member to
the PDA Council each year. Constituency Membership is open to anyone
who lives in Washington State, is 16 years old or older, and pays $1
yearly dues. Membership cards are available at the PDA office or call

|

|
The

HOT LUNCH is served every Monday through Friday, 12 p.m.
Every Monday: Folk Dancing, 1 p.m.
Every Tuesday: Artists Studio, 10 a.m.

First and Second Tuesday: Playreading, 2 P.M.
Every Thursday: Craft Circle 1 P.M.
Last Friday: Birthday Party 1:15 P.M.
Pike Market Medical Clinic
The Pike Market Medical Clinic provides comprehensive primary care and ancillary services to 3,600 patients each year. The
Clinic's patients are elderly, HIV-positive, working poor, and
low-income people who live in the Market and surrounding downtown
neighborhoods. Patients rely on the Pike Market Medical Clinic for
basic medical care in addition to prescriptions, lab work, mental
health counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, and connections with
other services in the community— sometimes even finding a home.

Food Bank
The Downtown Food Bank provides groceries to nearly 50,000 people a year, and the demand for food keeps growing. Thanks
to the Food Bank's devoted group of volunteers - many of whom have
benefited from the Food Bank's services - about 265 bags of groceries
are delivered weekly to frail, homebound downtown residents who
wouldn't otherwise be able to get food. About 160 families come to the
Baby Boost Cupboard for infant milk, baby food and even diapers.
